Position Summary: Reporting to the Service Manager, the Heavy Equipment Driver will be responsible for performing a variety of routine and complex transportation work in driving and coordinating transportation plans for equipment transportation on behalf of the company.
Essential Functions:
The Heavy Equipment Driver will be responsible for performing a variety of routine and complex transportation work in driving and coordinating transportation plans for equipment transportation and provide shop porter support as assigned by Service Manager.
- Load equipment in a safe and effective manner.
- Transport equipment in a safe and effective manner
- Establish a planned route to insure the most economical use of time and equipment.
- Perform routine pre/post trip inspections and preventative maintenance on assigned equipment and refer defects or repairs to supervisor.
- Ensure equipment is delivered to customer clean and without cosmetic defects.
- Maintain safe and defensive driving practices.
- Keep all records legible and in compliance with established methods.
- Complete all additional tasks required by the Service Manager, as needed.
- Maintain a clean and organized vehicle.
- Perform shop porter duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Education / Experience:
- Valid CDL License (including valid medical card).
- Willingness to participate in random drug screening as required by the D.O.T.
- Willingness to attend off-site, job-related training classes.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, twist, balance and climb as needed.
- Agricultural knowledge/experience is an asset.
Competency:
- Extremely organized with good time management skills.
- Support company policies and values as outlined the Company Handbook.
- Work the hours necessary to perform the job.
- Clean driving record.
- Experience with air brakes.
